YouTube Music Introduces New Ask Music Feature

Google is adding exciting new features to YouTube Music to enhance the music listening experience.

YouTube Music is stepping up its user experience with a new feature called “Ask Music,” powered by generative AI, Gemini. This feature allows users to create playlists based on their written input.

Currently available in the USA, Canada, and Australia with English language support, it is expected to roll out to other countries in the coming months. Included as part of the YouTube Premium subscription, “Ask Music” does not require any additional fees.

Personal radio is coming

Previously, YouTube Music gained attention with its personalized radio feature. Announced with the statement, “It’s ready for you to share. It reflects the user’s current music tastes and is constantly updated,” this feature creates personalized radio playlists based on users’ music preferences. These playlists can be shared with others and will appear on personal channels. However, they will remain private until users choose to make them public. As Google explains, “Statistics and personal radios are private unless you set them to public.”

Humming Search feature

YouTube Music has also recently introduced the humming song search feature. Users can now find the name of a song with just a three-second humming recording or a short clip of a song they heard in a video. This feature, initially added to Google’s iOS and Android platforms in 2020, allowed users to find songs by humming or whistling. Over time, this AI-based system has evolved and is now available in both the Android and iOS versions of the YouTube Music app, with plans to be fully accessible to all users soon.

With these new features, YouTube aims to make the music experience more personalized and accessible. In particular, “Ask Music” and personalized radio playlists will allow users to easily discover content that matches their musical tastes.
